My first day at the Hacker Residency in Vietnam
Thomas Sanlis
Hey friends ππ»
My first day at the Hacker Residency is over, and I have so much to tell you!!
I slept 10 hours last night, and yet when I woke up I still felt tired π .
At first, I told myself I'd stay at the hotel in the morning to rest, then I very quickly started feeling depressed, homesick already π₯! So I changed my mind, thinking it would do me good to meet everyone and be around other people.
That was a great decision - I immediately felt much better! When getting up, I was thinking "oh no, this can't be happening, how am I going to stay 1 month on the other side of the world without seeing my girlfriend, my dog, my friends and my bike" π, and the instant I walked into the hacker residency villa and met the others, that feeling vanished. I knew my energy would quickly return and that I was going to have an extraordinary month.
Even though I already miss my girlfriend tremendously (I love you Anna π«Άπ»), the feeling of being among other entrepreneurs gives me such a boost!
In my everyday life, I have very few friends who are entrepreneurs. Most have a classic 9-5 and don't understand what I do day-to-day. Even though it's not very bothersome, being surrounded by people I can talk to about my work and theirs is extremely stimulating!
An example: today, 3 people from the Hacker Residency told me they had read my post from yesterday π. It felt extremely weird (in the right way)! Until now, it was as if I had two very distinct lives: my entrepreneur life on the internet, and real life, where nobody knows what I do.
That completely changed today. I'm surrounded by people who share the same mindset, who understand what I do, and better yet, who do it better than I do. And honestly, it's 100x more effective than seeing revenue screenshots on Twitter, it gives an incredible motivation boost.
Also, look at my desk π€©!!
I also talked a lot with Travis, one of the Hacker Residency organizers, and he gave me so many tips that I've already interrupted writing this article twice to add a task to my to-do list because I just thought of something he mentioned π! Thank you ππ»!
We ended the day at a great Vietnamese restaurant recommended by Minh-Phuc π€©!
Honestly, the worry I felt this morning has completely evaporated. Everyone is extremely nice and approachable, the atmosphere is incredible, and the conditions are perfect. I'm really looking forward to seeing what we'll all be able to accomplish in 30 days!
Anyway, I'm still a bit jet-lagged, I hope I'll manage to sleep π¬.
My article tomorrow will be a bit different from today's: I'll talk more about my plans for Uneed and Writizzy for the coming month π.
See you tomorrow ππ»
